TROON has been branded as one of the most expensive seaside towns in Scotland.
According to the Bank of Scotland Seaside Town Review, Troon is both one of the most expensive seaside towns and one of in the top 10 towns to have the biggest increase of house prices, against 59 other seaside towns in Scotland.
The data collected illustrates the summer hotspot to have a 7 per cent increase from 2015 on its average house price, jumping up over £20,000.
The study says that in 2015, the average house price was £169,523 but as of 2016, this went up to £181,898.
The price increase has landed Troon the title as the 10th most expensive seaside town in Scotland to reside in.
Graham Blair, mortgage director at Bank of Scotland, said: "Living on the coast offers many attractions, including a typically high quality of life and attractive surroundings. As a result, property in seaside towns is often very popular with homebuyers.
“Over the past 10 years, the strongest performing seaside towns have been on the Aberdeenshire coastline, as the oil industry was experiencing its boom period.
"However, more recently, house price growth has slowed down in many coastal towns meaning good value for money can be found for those searching to realise their dream of living near the sea."
