FLY posting around Troon is becoming a growing problem.
Those who are posting flyers and posters are going at night to do this and it is claimed that it can be seen as a criminal offence.
Dawn Barr, of Troon Community Council is going around during the night and taking the posters down.
She said: "We received an email saying that there is a 10K coming up and they explained they will be putting up posters but they will be removing them that night once the 10K has finished.
"I think that is a fair comment, if you put it up then you take it down.
"It's like your dog mess, if you put it there, you pick it up and take it home."
Jill Cronin, South Ayrshire Council’s Head of Enterprise, Development and Leisure, said: "Illegal fly-posting is a criminal offence and anyone found to be putting up notices could be prosecuted.
"If cases are reported on public property we will remove posters as soon as possible, and for cases on private land we will notify advertisers and landowners to let them know about the issue.
"If you are aware of fly-posting in your community, please contact the Council directly on 0300 123 0900, and we will remove the items as soon as possible."
