A TEENAGER fell from the top of Ballast Bank into the rocks below near Troon's Titchfield Road on Saturday.

The 13-year-old was taken to hospital in Glasgow, on Saturday, March 25, where he was treated for his injuries.

Police attended to assist the ambulance and helicopter service at 4.45pm. Sources told the Ayr Advertiser Series that they believed the boy to be local to Troon as he was out with his friends at the time.

Our source said: "The incident happened between 3pm and 3.30pm. The teenager and his pals were running up and down the bank. The grass was quite slippery underfoot and he must have missed the path and fallen into the rocks.

"There was a helicopter on site but in the end he was taken away in an ambulance. He was given gas and air before he was taken away. It took them about 45 minutes to get him comfortable.

"I would say the emergency services were there for at least an hour and a half. A couple of people came to help, they were all quite calm."

A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed that the boy had been taken to hospital to treat his injuries. By the time we went to press there were no updates on the situation.
