A TROON man who called his partner a 'wh**e, before grabbing her neck and throwing her against a worktop, has been ordered not to contact her.

Duane Phillips, who now resides at Viewfield Gate in Ayr admitted chasing the woman around the room and attempting to seize her by the body at her home address in Troon in February this year.

The 27-year-old also owned up to shouting, swearing and uttering offensive remarks at the woman on the same day.

Phillips appeared before Sheriff Desmond Leslie at Ayr Sheriff Court last week. The court heard how Phillips became aggressive towards her.

Depute Fiscal Scott Toal said: "He started stamping his foot and punching his chest. He grabbed his girlfriend by the throat and threw her against the kitchen worktop.

"He was shouting that she was a sl*t, Wh**e and a sl*g. She went into the living room and the accused chased her around the living room and grabbed her arms.

"At 8pm the police attended and heard shouting and swearing coming from inside. He accepted he grabbed the complainer by the throat and throwing her against the worktop."

Speaking on his behalf, defence solicitor, Gregor Forbes, said: "This appears to have been a matter which had been simmering between them for some time.

"Mr Phillips accepts his behaviour was wholly out of order. The report has thrown up a number of problems. He has mental health issues and on the day in question he had not taken his medication.

"The pair have been in a relationship for four years."

Sheriff Leslie interrupted: "It says in the report that the relationship is over. Mr Phillips said at interview that he did not wish to reconcile with her."

Mr Forbes continued: "That is not the case as I understand it. He wants to be with the complainer just not move back in. She wants him back but I am not sure that is a good idea."

Phillips will remain under supervision for 18 months as he completes his community payback oder. He has also been ordered not to approach or contact her in any way.
