He was joined by Olympic athlete Brian Whittle to check out NSPCC Scotland’s ground breaking ChildLine Schools Service in action.

The schools service is delivered by specially trained local volunteers to arm pupils with the knowledge to protect themselves from abuse and neglect.

Craig said: “On average, at least two children in every classroom of every primary school have suffered abuse or neglect. Yet they can wait months, or even years, before contacting ChildLine or getting any kind of help. Ensuring that children receive keeping safe messages at home, in school and through the ChildLine Schools Service is the best way to reinforce this important information about how they should be treated." Launched last year, the ChildLine Schools Service will visit every primary school across Scotland by 2016.
