THE news that Harry and Meghan are expecting their first baby is the biggest story around today - and it was only a matter of time before Irn-Bru pounced on it with their quick wit.

The makers behind the hugely-popular drink have had Scottish Twitter chuckling this morning after taking to Twitter with a comical post.

The team posted a picture of a small bottle of Irn-Bru in a Moses basket, captioning it: “Everyone loves a wee ginger #RoyalBaby.”

Fans were left impressed with the drink’s speed in coming up with the brilliant joke just hours after the big news was announced.

“Wow, quick off the mark with that one!,” wrote one.

As reported by the Evening Times, Kensington Palace made the surprise announcement early this morning.

In a statement, officials said: “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.

“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”

The newly-wed couple arrived in Sydney this morning ahead of a 16-day tour which will take in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.

The baby is due in spring 2019.
