Ayr dominate derby rivals

TOP batting performances from Neil Smith and Andi McElnea helped Local Life Ayr overwhelm derby rivals Prestwick in a West League Cup tie at New Cambusdoon on Wednesday night.

Batting first Ayr scored an impressive 157-3. Top performers were Smith (43),McElnea (34) while veteran Douglas Johnstone chipped in with an unbeaten 33.

In the Prestwick reply the Ayr bowlers were always on top and bowled the visitors out for 69 with Neil Logan taking three for 18 as Ayr gained revenge for their defeat earlier in the season and put them back in contention to qualify from the group stages.
