IT seems there may be another bard in our midst - at least, when it comes to penning poems with passion about your favourite football team.

Posted fittingly on January 25 on fans website the honestpage, The Hampden Dream by Robert Clark is being forwarded on to the Ayr United first team today as they prepare to do battle with Kilmarnock in the semi-final of the Scottish Communities League Cup at Hampden tomorrow.

We thought the Ayr Advertiser's Ayr United fans would appreciate the poet's passion - and his rallying call to all fans to be at Hampden tomorrow for this historic clash.

Our thanks to Robert and Pete at honestpage.co.uk. You can lodge your own good luck messages on our twitter and facebook pages.

Robert Clark

THE HAMPDEN DREAM

Its moving in fast now, the time it draws near

When the Ayr men at Hampden, will play without fear

To reach a cup final, the ultimate goal

And to bury the killie, in a deep darkened hole

We'll not go as favourites, but who gives a damn

We've been here before, and still remained calm

Ask Hearts or St Mirren and the Butchers boys too

They all started top dogs, but ended up blue

Cause when up against it, we dig in and fight

Against better players, we've got it just right

Our flaws and short comings, they meant not a jot

Its heart and real effort, that got us this slot

Our players and supporters, will merge into one

In order to gain us, our day in the sun

No quarter we'll give them, and none will we ask

Our minds will be focused, intent on the task

They'll come from Australia, and from over the pond

To meet up at Hampden, and renew a strong bond

The club it is buried, real deep in their heart

And no thousands of miles, will keep them apart

Ten thousand supporters, will kick every ball

And breath in fresh life, if heads start to fall

For ninety full minutes, we'll roar our boys on

Till blood pressure boils, and our voices are gone

And if at the end, we lose the big game

We'll clap and still cheer them, no one will we blame

Cause our heart and our passion, belongs to this team

No matter what happens, no matter the dream

We're Ayr through and through, right up to the end

And this is a message, I'd just like to send

To all of our players, preparing to play

I hope our support, will sweep you away

I hope it inspires you, to give of your best

And gives you the steel, to face this tough test

I hope that it gives you, just one extra yard

To win any ball, when the going gets hard

So that even the boys, who have never before

Experienced the sight, or the sound of our roar

Will forever remember, with hearts beating fast

Sweet memories inside them, the kind that will last

I like many others, would give our full lot

From a lottery win, to fill up the pot

To see our great team, back where they belong

In the Premier League, its been far too long

So rally the troops boys, we need every man

To travel to Hampden and join the Ayr clan

To sing and support them, no matter the score

And will them to glory, With a final in store

Ayr till i Die
