Games on For Dundonald
Public rally to save celebrations

THE village of Dundonald can breath a sigh of relief as their highland games are saved.
For over two decades residents have enjoyed their summer games but at the start of the year the annual event came under threat due to falling committee numbers.
AGM members had dropped to just three despite 10 being needed for the group to exist.
In a last ditch attempt to salvage the games two public meetings were held to try and drum up support.
The first asked for support for the games to be shown while the second asked for members to sign up.
Dundonald Games secretary Bill McKinlay explained: "Following a very successful Dundonald Games AGM, when we managed to fill all vacant committee positions, and get new people in all the required supporting positions also. The continuation of the event is assured, not only for 2010 but for many years to come."
