On Tuesday, February 16, the Annual General Meeting of the Troon Business Association will be held at 7.30pm in the Troon Town Hall Council Chambers. All Members are requested to attend. Contact either the Chairman Marian Lochrie on 311855 or Secretary Tracey Bradford on 310955.

Or why not head to the meeting of Ayrshire Members' Centre of the Scottish Wildlife Trust at 7.30pm to hear Stuart Brabbs, Catchment officer at the Ayrshire Rivers Trust, speak on "Ayrshire Rivers Trust; fish and a whole lot more!" As the title suggests, his talk will show the breadth of interests of the Trust's biologists, including water voles, pearl mussels and invasive species. The meeting will take place in the Green Room in the Refectory at the Scottish Agricultural College, Auchincruive, which is sign-posted from the T-junction just inside the main gate.

The following day, Wednesday, February 17, Opportunities in Retirement Troon are looking forward to hearing about local celebrity Anne Fields 'Life in Showbusiness' at 2pm in Portland Church Hall. This is a change from the published programme and the club is grateful to Anne for helping out at short notice.

On Thursday, February 18, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is holding a Book Club at 6.30pm for those who wish to participate is group scripture reading and discussions.

Troon Old Parish Church is also hosting a Mothers & Toddlers meeting from 9.30am until 11.30am.

On Friday, February 19, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra will be performing the Goldmark Overture: Im Fruhling, the Schumann Cello Concerto and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 1 'Winter Daydreams' at Ayr Town Hall on New Bridge Street. The concert's conductor will be Christoph Konig with cellist Alisa Weilerstein playing.

This weekend there is a host of events with Dalmellington Band performing the Senior Slow Melody Event, Sounds of Praise with massed choir, organ and praise group and the Ayrshire Farmers Market open at the Kyle Centre Car Park in Ayr.

Power talk: Members of Prestwick History Group recently welcomed Mark Gibson (pictured) from Craigengillan Estate, near Dalmellington.

The group, who regularly feature in our community noticeboard, were entertained with a powerpoint presentation of the estate's history. More about this event and pictures in the paper.
