HAVING played against Rangers last weekend, Ayr United under 15's took on the other half of the Old Firm in a friendly fixture to enable them to prepare for the re-start of the Youth Initiative fixtures later this month.

In a high scoring fixture, coach John Given felt that the players didn't reach the same level of performance as last weeks match but on this occasion, the Ayr players took their chances with Sean Robertson grabbing a brace with United's other goals coming from Ryan Rowe, Ryan Nisbet and Gary Griffin.

"Celtic dominated for long spells in the game," admitted Coach Given, "and while at times we struggled to keep the ball, the quality of our finishing was very high. We also had a couple of youngsters from the under 14's playing in the side and they both did very well indeed."
