A JILTED boyfriend telephone his 16-year-old ex to say he was going to kill her.

Lee Shields, 20, of Troon, thought there was a chance to rekindling their romance.

Ayr Sheriff Court heard how last September, Shields contacted her on her mobile phone and became abusive.

Depute fiscal Isobel Vincent said Shields began menacingly repeating the phrase "Going to happen to you."

Ms Vincent said that when the terrified teenager asked Shields what he meant, he replied: "I'm going to kill you."
