Plans for South Ayrshire Travellers Site
PLANS for a new travellers camp in South Ayrshire are 'on the move' with 20 others areas being offered protection.
South Ayrshire is set to receive £30,000 to create a dedicated site near Ayr.
Over the past two years there have been 45 unauthorised encampments in South Ayrshire, 18 on council land and costing SAC approximately £54,000.
Now a further £40,000 of the council's own cash will go to protecting 20 other vulnerable sites.
Sites have previously sprung up in Maidens, Prestwick seafront and Newton Shore by gypsies and travellers but these areas have now benefited from protection works.
