Planners Snub Objectors to Approve Ayr Store Expansion

PLANS to almost double the size of a mini-mart have been given the go-ahead despite strong objections from some neighbours.
James Crawford's ambitions to expand the Downhill and Seafield Stores have been realised as planning chiefs allow him to expand into the next door.
Work will now start by transforming the nearby one-and-a-half story semi-detached to join onto the store, which also houses Seafield Post Office.
South Ayrshire's planning board received 33 letters from residents, 15 objecting while 18 supported the bid.
Support for the Ayr west shop came from several neighbour, including one Blackburn Drive resident who said: "I 100 per cent support the project and the owners of the stores who have already made major improvements in recent years.
"This shop and post office attracts a very busy local trade and passing trade, including nearby Wellington School pupils, and at certain times of the day can be so buy and cramped for space that it is a sensible step in the right direction to expand the premises."
But not all neighbours are happy with the extension.
