CLOSE: Two two Sean's together
MOVING tributes have been paid to two Girvan teenagers killed when their car smashed head-on into another vehicle.
Pals Sean Martin and Sean Rodger, both 18, died last Tuesday when the Vauxhall Corsa they were travelling in crossed the centre line and hit a Skoda Fabia at Jameston Farm on the A719 near Maidens.
TRIBUTES: Floral tributes were laid to the popular teenagers at the scene of the fatal crash.
Despite the emergency services fast response Corsa driver Sean Rodger, died at the scene while Sean Martin, a front seat passenger, died a short time after arriving at Ayr Hospital.
A third friend Hayden Johnston, 18, who was sitting in the backseat was left with serious injuries and admitted to Ayr Hospital with his condition stable.
The three boys left Girvan Academy in the summer and speaking to the Advertiser Series this week, headteacher Allan Rattray paid tribute to the pals.
He said: "All three boys were really quiet, both Sean's were quiet and very close friends right through school and obviously continued this friendship after school. Staff say they were very respectful and very unassuming pupils and both really well-liked. The boys, in their own way, contributed to the school through interhouse activities, and were always willing to take part and give a hand. As far as we are concerned pupils like that are a real credit to us.
"Throughout school they loved their football, that was one of their passion and Hayden fell into the same friendship group. He is a really good natured guy and always gave his best in anything he did."
Allan added: "It is just such a loss for the Academy and community, a tragic, tragic loss of life.
"Our thoughts are with the family."
The 46-year-old woman driver of the Skoda car and two 14-year-old girls travelling in her vehicle fortunately escaped injury but a front seat passenger, a 44-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.
Since the crash, friends and family have been paying tribute to the boys by leaving flowers at scene and messages on their Bebo networking sites.
One friend Jennie said: "It's hard to believe you're gone, thinking back to Tuesday night with you texting me constantly, asking when our next bevvying session was, nothing ever crossed my mind to why you stopped texting. Storm to pass when I blast it now, its for you. Keep the partying going."
