THREE Troon firefighters have been praised for over 60 years of service between them after responding to thousands of calls for help.
The 20 year long service and good conduct medals were presented to firefighters Bobby Wyllie, Ian Fisher and Martin Doherty last week by Group Commander Billy Thomson.
Over the last two decades the men have attended some 376 house fires, 1,398 grass and rubbish fires, 1,007 false alarms and 203 malicious false alarms - and it's all be while holding down other jobs.
Group Commander Thomson, the head of community safety for North and South Ayrshire area, said: "I am very honoured to be presenting the medals to three local firefighters for their long and faithful service to the community. 20 years marks a significant milestone in the career of any firefighter, but even more so in retained duty system (RDS) firefighters."
