A STAGECOACH bus driver is being praised for helping a woman cross the A77 after missing her stop.

Passengers on the X16 from Ayr to Kilmarnock witnessed their driver help the woman last Tuesday, after she missed her stop at Hansel – it is understood that he made the next available stop and helped the woman cross an “extremely busy A77”.

Chris Hendry, who witnessed the kind gesture, explained: “This Stagecoach driver of the X16 from Ayr to Kilmarnock helped a woman across the A77 after she missed her stop at Hansel.

“He stopped at the next available bus stop and helped her cross the extremely busy A77 and made sure she got the X16 heading back to Hansel.

“Without the drivers help, this would have been a very difficult and dangerous situation for the woman so a very big well done.

“I hope this driver gets the recognition he deserves for this good deed.”

A spokesperson for Stagecoach said: “We are proud of our driver’s actions. He is a credit to Stagecoach and his decision to help the passenger cross the busy road reinforces what an important role our drivers play within local communities.

“We are pleased he was able to help on this occasion.”
