A COMMUNITY project in South Ayrshire has been given a funding boost thanks to STV’s Children’s Appeal.
The Little Art School Trust, which can be found in Ayr, Troon and Girvan, delivers art sessions to some of the most vulnerable people in the community and thanks to the STV’s Children’s Appeal, the group has received £2,000.
The Trust also works with third sector agencies such as South Ayrshire Carers Centre and Barnardos to identify children who would benefit from taking part in the project, including those who have been bullied or young carers who have a sibling or family member requiring additional support.
Susan Webb, development coordinator at The Little Art School Trust, said: “When children and young people are involved in art something changes in their lives, bettering lifelong journeys, their capabilities and their contribution to the world around them.
"Our highly structured art classes provide an authentic learning experience which engages their minds, hearts and bodies.
“We have local children already placed in classes and can see the difference it has made to their overall confidence and wellbeing; both in the art class and in their home and school lives.”
Sir Tom Hunter, trustee of the STV Children’s Appeal, said: “Sincerely I thank everyone who has raised money for the STV Children’s Appeal and can again confirm to every last one of you that every pound is being invested in charities like The Little Art School Trust to the benefit of Scotland’s young people.”
