A PROPOSAL to build a home on land within Knockdon Farm has been approved despite objections from nearby residents.

At a Regulatory Panel meeting at South Ayrshire Council last week, plans to create a detached single storey house were given the green light unanimously.

However, when the application was submitted, a number of residents within the vicinity of the site objected to the illustration being “completely out of character” and “unsympathetic” to the environment.

Ms McKellar of Knockdon, said: “The external finish of the proposed building is completely out of character.

"The red sandstone construction and slate roofs of the existing buildings are what create the character of the hamlet. The proposed new build will add pressure to an infrastructure not intended for the number of residents.”

Councillor Convery commented he “didn’t see any problems,”, adding, “it looks like a humble cottage.”
