FURTHER concerns have been raised about the potential Tarbolton incinerator.

One resident has voiced their concerns regarding the plans, which would be located behind the rubbish dump, as they say the land is not owned by the council.

Our source said: “The rubbish dump is illegal. The council did not get permission to create it.

“In November 1970, Ayr County Council was planning to build a landfill which was met with objections.

“We won our appeal and were congratulated on our success but the landfill was built by the council anyway.

“The second problem is flooding.

“There is one field of about 30 acres and another field further down but the water runs down and causes an issue with flooding.

“In 1974 the rubbish dump covered 20 acres and now the pile is 300 ft high.

“It is so big it could be dangerous. Any tremor in the land could be disastrous and someone could be seriously hurt.”

Lesley Bloomer, Executive Director Economy, Neighbourhood and Environment: "The Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) for construction and operation of a waste to energy facility, Moss Landfill Site, Tarbolton was approved on 1st June 2017.

"Consultation would be required and the PAN outlines how the applicant intends to engage with the public.

"No information has been submitted to the Council as planning authority regarding land ownership. Ownership of the land would be certified when / if an application for planning permission is received."
