GIRVAN Community Garden has been celebrating it’s 10th anniversary this year.

There have been some special events in the past few months, the most recent being a Harvest Festival, on Saturday, September 30.

Girvan Community Garden boasts a pond, a wildlife area, fruit trees, greenhouse and modest rotational allotments plots, as well as many other exciting features.

The garden caters for the whole community, with raised beds, a ‘keyhole’ garden and a newly designed composting area.

They have easy access to the garden through their widened woodland walkway for prams and wheelchairs.

The garden plays host to a number of workshops, events and activities throughout the year and we get involved with schools and other groups to deliver projects both in the garden and out into the wider community.

Volunteers run a weekly Green Gym and Sundays are dedicated to volunteering within the garden and everyone is welcome.

They are always happy to welcome new faces and there are plenty of different volunteering opportunities available.

The work you could be involved with ranges from helping maintaining the garden all the year round and basic horticulture to wood work, volunteering your time at events or administrative work.

For more information about any of these opportunities or if you have skills you might like to share with others or would like to offer your help with garden events please contact Julie Campbell, Volunteer Coordinator.
