HUNDREDS of women took part in the first ever Pretty Muddy in Ayr over the weekend.

On Saturday, September 30, women from all over the area came together to tackle the muddy obstacle course for Cancer Research UK.

Women of all abilities climbed, crawled and charge through the 5k course at Ayr Racecourse.

Frances Kippax-Geary, area events manager for Cancer Research, said: “This was the last event of the season and the first ever Pretty Muddy held in Ayr.

“We had around 930 women taking part and was just an incredible atmosphere.

“We had so much support and it was a fantastic venue with lots of mud and water already in place for the obstacles.

“We had a very local team in terms of the volunteers.

“A massive thank you to the women of Ayr – to get that number of people involved only two weeks after the Pretty Muddy in Glasgow was just phenomenal.

“It was one of those events where I have been left with a massive smile on my face.”
