AN ACTION plan to improve living conditions and the environment in Glendoune is in its fourth month.

Glendoune has been described as the most disadvantaged area in Girvan, which many argue the most deprived town in South Ayrshire.

Roddy Macdonald, coordinator of the Girvan Town Team has joined forces with the Glendoune Community Association who have come up with some proposals to improve the area.

They have sought the help of the C3 Collaborating for Health who believe that the three risk factors: unhealthy eating and drinking, lack of physical activity and tobacco use are barriers to leading a healthier life.

Roddy explained: “To help the Glendoune community association we have come up with an action plan.

“We have been working with C3 Collaborating for Health to address the issues in the area.

“Together we can help encourage healthy eating and gentle exercise. There are many issues but if we encourage people to do something we can promote a better lifestyle.

“We also want to improve the environment in which people live. We have two C3 officers in Glendoune who we are in frequent discussion with.

“We are four months into our draft action plan which will finish in September. Once we have completed that we hope it will continue.”

C3 staff feel that only through collaboration can society hope to overcome this public-health crisis.

They are known for the breadth of work and openness to engagement with all sectors.

They also specialise in projects with businesses, communities, workplace health and health professionals.

Since their foundation in 2009 they have grown considerably, and while their team is still relatively small they aim to be productive in the areas that need them most.
