A GIRVAN man threw a brick at his partners car after he “lost his rag.”

Graham Haywood, of East Threave Farm, Girvan, called the police to his home address on March 18.

This was after he recklessly threw a solid brick through the windscreen of his partner’s car.

The 52-year-old appeared before Sheriff Mhari McTaggart at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

Procurator Fiscal, Stephen McLean, said: “The complainer and the accused have been in a relationship for four months.

“After midnight on the said date, the complainer and the accused had an argument that became extremely heated and then the police were called.

“As the complainer attempted to leave in her car, the accused threw a brick at the window and caused it to smash.

“The police arrived.

“The accused said “I lost my rag and threw the brick at the car window.””
Speaking on his behalf, defence solicitor Ian Gillies, said: “Just as he said to the police, he realised that he shouldn’t have done it.

“The car was not moving, causing the window to not smash, but splinter.

“He contacted the police himself.”

Sheriff McTaggart, concluded: “There are consequences of having a couple of convictions on your record.

“This could result in you going to prison

“But I can step back from that and put you under supervision.”

Haywood was given a Community Payback Order with 12 months supervision.
