GIRVAN’S Town Team are looking to apply for funding from The Big Lottery Scheme to help them with projects around the town.

Roddy McDonald informed the group recently that he hoped to formalise the application soon. He hoped that because the Town Team was classed as a SCIO and had an open, stable membership, this would be beneficial for the application.

There are a number of programmes available for the Town Team to apply for and Awards for All Scotland, is one of the three most recent available.

It is focussed on organisations who have not received a grant from the programme in the last three years and gives them a chance to apply for a grant of between £500 and £10,000 for projects that aim to help improve local communities and the lives of people most in need.

They will fund a wide range of projects which involve bringing local people together, helping people learn, improving local spaces and getting people more active.

The programme is a partnership between the Big Lottery Fund Scotland, sportscotlandGoes to different website and Creative ScotlandGoes to different website.

This funding aims to support communities to improve the places they live and the wellbeing of those most in need.

Grants for community-led activity offers between £10,000 - £150,000.

This funding aims to support communities to improve the places they live and the wellbeing of those most in need. Everyone in the community has the opportunity to influence and get involved in community-led activity.

The aim is to make sure people in the community are better connected and work together to improve their well-being.

Grants for improving lives can offer funding from £10,000 to £1 million to help people facing challenging circumstances.

Many people experience challenges at some point in their lives and the big lottery fund want to support activity that helps them overcome these difficulties and become more resilient.

They want to make sure they are better able to identify ways to take control over their lives and build resilience are able to shape the activities and services they use to better meet their needs have more access to support and opportunities to improve their lives.

Applications for each of these programmes are ongoing throughout the year and the Girvan Town Team are hopeful that they will be successful in the coming months.
