Upper Stinchar SWI held their opening evening in Barr Village Hall with four Ayrshire writers invited as guest speakers.
The Litereight group of Fiona Atchison, Catherine Lang, Helena Sheridan and Greta Yorke entertained members with various short story readings, recitation of poems and a hilarious monologue from Fiona.
Upper Stinchar members Vera Dunlop, Wendy Symonds and Michelle Martin catered for the evening before president Yvonne Jack informed members about the Ayrshire SWI Federation Garden Party that will be held on Sunday July 2 at Dumfries House.
A limited number of tickets have been allocated to Upper Stinchar.
Yvonne has also entered her encaustic art picture into the 'Burns Squared' Exhibition running from March until August at The Burns Birthplace Museum to represent Upper Stinchar.
In addition, her cross stitch piece will represent Upper Stinchar on the SWI's 100th Anniversary Banner.
The winner of the main competition for a handcrafted bookmark was Liz Copeland with Margaret Diamond second and Yvonne Jack third.
The winner of the fun competition for the funniest tea towel was Liz Copeland with Margaret Diamond second and Nellie Lambie third.
A date for diaries is Easter Sunday, April 16 when the legendary Barr.
Teas will be served at Barr Village Hall, with an Easter Egg hunt earlier in the day.
The next Upper Stinchar SWI meeting will be held on Thursday April 20 at 7pm in Barr Village Hall, guests are always welcome.
