FOLLOWING a £172,000 refurbishment programme, Girvan Golf Clubhouse is preparing for a busy summer season following the extensive renovation.

The new look facility was officially opened week last and sports an upgraded dining room, bar, locker rooms, a new disabled WC and showers. The entrance area and corridor has also been refreshed, heating improved, damp issues resolved, with new electrical fittings improving efficiency and reducing costs.

South Ayrshire Council now looking to increase memberships and find new talent in the years ahead.

Councillor Bill Grant, South Ayrshire Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, Tourism & Leisure said he expected the course to go from strength-to-strength.

He explained: “The new look Girvan Clubhouse provides better facilities for existing members, while also offering a more attractive package for people considering taking up the game of golf.

“Set against the stunning backdrop of Ailsa Craig the challenging course is now complemented by a modern clubhouse that has already proved popular with regulars and visitors alike.

“The refurbishment complements the new £6 million pound Quay Zone leisure centre in Girvan, which is due to open in the next few weeks. Together these projects provide access to improved leisure services, offering greater options for healthy living.”
