GIRVAN'S HND Hospitality Management student has been awarded scholarships to attend the world-renowned Lausanne Hotel School in Switzerland for a week.

Mollie Browne and her lecturer Richard Canale have recently been awarded scholarships by the Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland which works closely with colleges and universities in Scotland, supporting the development of emerging talent in the Hospitality industry, awarding scholarships and bursaries, helping people to advance in the industry.

HND Hospitality Management student Mollie Brown said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Lausanne and found the lectures very educational and interesting. 

"I look forward to using what I've learned to complete my course and progress further in the industry."

Hospitality Lecturer, Richard Canale said: "The experience was a different class, a whole different level. It’s a great model they have there, with the highest level chefs in the world training the students.

"To say I was inspired is an understatement. It was fantastic to go to a world-leading institution."

Head of Hospitality and Tourism at Ayrshire College, John Govan said “I am delighted that they were offered this scholarship. 

"It’s been an experience of a lifetime and introduced Mollie to completely different possibilities for the future and will help to shape her career. For the lecturer Richard, it’s been a fantastic opportunity to learn different approaches and techniques which he can now use in his own classroom.”
