A PRESTWICK-BORN author has been nominated for an award for comedy romance literature.

Jenny Colgan, who was born in Prestwick and went to school in Ayr, has seen her latest book 'Meet me at the cupcake cafe' shortlisted for The Melissa Nathan Award for comedy romance (sponsored by National Express).

Melissa Nathan was a comedy romance writer whose books The Nanny and The Waitress were regularly in the Top Ten bestseller lists, Melissa sadly died of cancer at just 37 in April 2006.
