Singer backs river campaign
BACKING: Donovan
THE fight to save the River Doon continues to grow as a pop sensation Donovan adds his support.
Pop and folk idol Donovan is protesting over the plans to remove millions of gallons from the river.
The singer and poet spent childhood holidays in Ayr and his son, also called Donovan married Ayrshire's international model, Kirsty Hume.
Speaking on Friday, Donovan - who penned the 'Banks of Doon' to celebrate Robert Burns' 250th anniversary - said: "By accident I found out what could be happening to the Doon.
"It shocked the socks off me when I read about the proposals. Here was a beautiful, iconic river under threat. All rivers are important, but this one is more important to me because of its connection to Robert Burns."
