MEMBERS of the armed forces have been praised for all their efforts by South Ayrshire during a special ceremony in Ayr.

The service on Saturday marked the "Fly A Flay for Our Armed Forces" initiative and was led by depute provost Mary Kilpatrick at Ayr"s County Buildings.

This year the Government introduced a new way of marking the contribution that our armed forces personnel make to this and other countries, by encouraging people to fly a specially commissioned Armed Forces Day Flag, from June 22 until Armed Forces Day on June 27.

Depute Provost Kilpatrick was joined by invited guests and members of the public who all paid their respects outside at the flag flying from the County Buildings.
