A TALENTED young artist is taking the art world by storm as she launches two new exhibitions in London.

Sarah Muirhead, 22, from Ayr has just graduated from the Edinburgh College of Art but has been chosen by a celebrity panel to have her work included in a pop-up exhibition of emerging artists.

The display will be on show in the luxury department of Selfridges" in London. Her work will also be shown in a special "exhibition" on the London underground.

Both projects are aimed at showing how contemporary art is increasingly branching out from traditional gallery spaces.

The Selfridges" exhibition, which will be open for two weeks in the "Wonder Room" of the London store from Wednesday, July 1, marks the launch of murmurART, a new platform working with emerging artists at the outset of their careers.

In the same month as the murmurART exhibition Sarah was also chosen to have her work exhibited on the London underground as part of the Art Below project which replaces advertising on train platforms with posters of work by emerging artists.

On the two high profile opportunities Sarah said: 'I"m really excited and surprised to have been selected for the Selfridges exhibition and to be taking part in Art Below so soon after the ECA degree show. I believe that artwork should not be confined to gallery space and feel really lucky to be showing work in two situations where such a wide audience can see my work.'
