MBE for Troon and Ayr's Carol
CONGRATULATIONS: Carol was chosen to be honoured by the Queen
A TROON woman that"s helped countless people overcome learning difficulties has been honoured in the Queen"s birthday list.
Carol MacGruer will be awarded an MBE for her 13 years of service to Ayr College.
After joining the college as student support, Carol has since become the founding member of the Study Centre - a support service for students.
The centre offers help to a number of students passing through the college"s doors, as it works with students with all kinds of additional support needs to help them achieve Higher Grade exams and HNC/D courses.
In 2003, Carol also opened SkillZone, a dyslexia centre for learners from both the college and community.
Speaking after the Queen"s Honour List announcement, Carol said: 'I am very proud to be honoured by the Queen, but more than that I am pleased to provide these services and support to students at Ayr College.'
