JOB CUTS: South Ayrshire Council Chief Executive David Anderson at the council's headquarters, the County Buildings in Ayr

COUNCIL staff are anxiously waiting to discover if their jobs are on the line as South Ayrshire chiefs admit they"ll be a cull.

South Ayrshire Council"s chief executive David Anderson revealed jobs will be lost in the coming months during last week"s Leadership Panel.

The meeting, held in Ayr"s County Buildings, also revealed that some council owned properties may be also set for the chop.

Speaking about the staff cuts, David Anderson said: 'I don"t know how many jobs will be lost. We are engaged at looking at how we can deliver better services but at sometime we need to reduce our expenditure.

'If you look at the figures building and people is what we spend the most money on.'

With no figures and details being given staff will now be left wondering which department will be suffering from the heaviest cuts.

The council were also unwilling to reveal what buildings they are looking to sell off in their bid of 'downsizing the organisation'.
