Officers Targeting South Ayrshire Licence Dodgers

OVER 500 TV licence cheats in Ayr have been caught so far this year - and officers warning they are on the hunt for more.

Since January 540 businesses and homes in Ayr were found not to have a television licence.

Now TV Licensing officers are warning hotels and guest houses in Ayr to ensure they are correctly licensed and avoid the risk of a £1,000 fine, as they use their database of almost 30 million UK addresses to identify premises.

TV Licensing spokesman for Scotland Fergus Reid said: 'With more people staying in the UK for their holidays this year, hotels could be in for a busy summer. It"s essential that hotel managers in Ayr ensure they are covered, or they risk a visit from a very unwelcome guest."
