South Ayrshire Council is flying high after winning a major award at the RAF Benevolent Fund Awards 2024.

The Fund's annual awards ceremony is an important opportunity for the charity to acknowledge, celebrate and thank its supporters.

The local authority took home the win in the Outstanding Support from an Organisation or Group category, in a category alongside International Bomber Command Centre and The Beaujolais Run.

Actor and fund supporter Alistair Petrie hosted the awards for the second year, which took place on Thursday, April 25.

A council spokesperson said: "We're delighted to have been recognised by our airshow charity partners, the RAF Benevolent Fund, at their awards ceremony last night."

A spokesperson for the Benevolent Fund said: "Our partnership with the Scottish International Ayr Show has allowed us to reach more RAF veterans and their families in Scotland, as well as opening up new fundraising opportunities."
