Two Ayr restaurants took home major prizes at the Scottish Curry Awards in Glasgow.

The Curry Leaf won the prestigious Takeaway of the Year category, while 3idiots was named Recommended Restaurant of the Year, as chosen by the event organisers.

The latest premises opened by the 3idiots team in Kilmarnock - called Brown Munde by Parveen Sharma - also received a 'highly commended' accolade in the 'best new restaurant' category.

It proved to be a great night for Ayrshire curryhouses at the glitzy event at Glasgow's Double Tree Hilton.

A delighted Curry Leaf owner Rajinder Kuar decidated the award to her new baby and said: "I hope everyone is having a brilliant time, because we're definitely having one.

"We are honoured to receive this award again. This would not be possible without the support of our customers and my amazing husband, who is our chef."

3idiots, who specialise in tapas-style Indian food, also thanked their amazing customers and team after another big win for them in the recommended restaurant category.

The firm, with more than 20 years experience in the trade, now has restaurants in Ayr, Troon and Kilmarnock.

Meanwhile, Motherland Spice in Saltcoats fought off tough competition to be named Best in Ayrshire, with Priya in Ayr winning a highly commended award.

Other finalists were the Jaipur Indian Restaurant in Ardrossan, Lawthorn Farm, the Taj Bar & Kitchen in Prestwick, and Spice at Route 77, in Symington.

It proved to be a memorable night in the Double Tree as the teams behind Scotland's best curryhouses gathered to celebrate and enjoy a new take on traditional Asian dance courtest of the trio Bollyfeat.

The event was organised by Oceanic Consulting and was hosted by presenter and comedian Tommy Sandhu.
