A PENSIONER has appeared in court charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Cumnock.
John Barr pleaded not guilty to a single charge of attacking the girl, who was aged 14 at the time, in Townhead Street on December 8.
The 74-year-old is alleged to have assaulted the girl by repeatedly seizing her by her breast over her clothing.
Solicitor Robert Logan told a brief hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court last week that his client denied the charge against him.
Sheriff John Montgomery was told the Crown had 19 witnesses, and the intermediate diet hearing was continued to a later date ahead of trial.
Bail was continued and Mr Barr, of Campbell Court, Cumnock, will return to court at a later date.
All accused persons reported in the Cumnock Chronicle are considered innocent unless found or later admit to being guilty.
