A HUGE appeal has been launched to save the iconic paddle steamer Waverly which often travels to Ayr.
Operators of the famous boat, the last seagoing of its kind are looking to raise £2.3 million in a bid to get the Waverly back in-service next year.
This year the Waverley’s season had to be cancelled after major problems were found with the ship’s 20-year-old boilers.
Since the announcement last month, over £100,000 has already been donated to the cause.
Donations to the appeal can be made online at Waverleyexcursions.co.uk or by calling 0141 243 2224 or text STEAM £20 to 70085 to donate £20.
