DRIVERS are being warned to prepare for weekend disruption as Cumnock gets shut down.

The A70 Cumnock to Ayr Road will be closed over three weeks to allow for the resurfacing of the stretch from Coalhall Rail Bridge to the substation near West Tarelgin Farm.

The works will take place on Saturday 29 June and Sunday 30 June, Saturday 6 July and Sunday 7 July, and Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 July.

To carry out these works safely and efficiently and to protect the roads operatives and the travelling public we will require to close this section of the A70 from 07:00 on each Saturday until 18:00 on the Sunday.

A signed diversion route will be in place via B730 Drongan, B7046 Sinclairston, U728 Glenconner, before re-joining the A70 at Mote Toll (West of Ochiltree) and vice versa.

Vehicular access onto the A70 during the road closure periods will not be possible via the B730 Stair Road.

It is anticipated that the resurfacing work will be completed within the timescales stipulated; however, the work is weather dependent.

Any concerns should be raised with Ayrshire Roads Alliance on 01563 503160.
