A PENSIONER was robbed of a two-figure sum of cash this morning at his home in Ayr.

The 81-year-old was left shaken as his attacker pushed him out the way when he answered the door before threatening him and stealing money.

The suspect then made off from the address on James Street on a bike which was described as a mountain bike style towards George Street/Elba Street direction.

The elderly victim was left uninjured.

Police are appealing for information on the incident. The man is described as approximately 30 years of age and 6ft tall. He was wearing dark clothing with his hood up.

Detective Constable Stuart McCulloch, Ayr CID, said: “This was a very distressing experience for the victim who has been left clearly shaken and distressed after the incident. 

“Thankfully he was not injured however this was a very frightening experience for him. It is imperative that we trace the man responsible for this attack as soon as possible.
