A SPECIAL annual event will be staged in Ayr later this month.

Ayr Holy Fair Day will be held in conjunction with Armed Forces Day and Pipes in the Park at the Low Green on Saturday, June 22.

This event has great historical significance in Ayr and is a hugely popular annual gathering boasting a Pipe Band Competition, Military Attractions, Market ‘He’s more than fortunate not to have been injured’ and charity stalls, fun dog show, fairground and beach volleyball tour.

The fun dog show has categories ranging from shortest dog to waggiest tail.

The event also supports Armed Forces Day which is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from current serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.

The official flag raising ceremony is the opening and formal aspect of the day with dignitaries and military in dress uniform.

The family fun day element provides the opportunity for members of the public to come to Ayr and say a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to our troops.

This event is the only Armed Forces day in Ayrshire attracting visitors from a wide area.
