A MAN will spend four months in a Young Offenders Institution for wasting police time.

Liam Clark of Harpeland in Dundonald falsely told police officers that an assault had taken place sparking them to investigate the matter.

The 20-year-old went to Dalmellington Police Office on March 28 where he told officers there the lies who then devoted their time and services in the investigation of the claims Clark was making.

He was later accused of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner where he was shouting, swearing and making threats of violence.

Representing Clark, his solicitor John “It can be a vicious cycle”

Gallagher told the court he had been detained regarding another matter which is yet to be dealt with.

Mr Gallagher said: “He has a case at the High Court in Glasgow. He was remanded in respect of matter of brandishing a razor.”

Sheriff Desmond Leslie sentenced the 20-year-old to four months in a Young Offenders Institution in respect that the court was of the opinion that no other method of dealing with him was appropriate in view of his record and the nature of the offence.

Sheriff Leslie told him: “You’ll spend four months in detention in a Young Offenders Institution effective from today.”
