POLICE were called to attend a dog being left in a car on sunny day in Troon on Wednesday, April 10.

Locals reported that the dog was left unattended for up to three hours near Troon beach.

A police spokesperson said: "At about 3.24pm police were actioned to attend Titchfield Road in Troon in relation to a dog which had been left within a motor vehicle for approximately three hours. On attendance the motor vehicle was found to have left prior to police arrival."

Local police have since reminded people in the area not to leave their dog in the car if they are visiting the seaside resort. South Ayrshire Police told everyone to enjoy the beautiful weather but be mindful of cruelty to their pets when it is warmer.
