A hospital ward received a generous donation in memory of one of its former patients this week.
Ayr man George Spankie spent his final days in the Acute Stroke Unit at University Hospital Crosshouse and following his tragic death, his family made a generous donation to the ward.
At his funeral, his friends and family wished to make a donation in remembrance of him.
George’s wife Helen said: “Both myself and the family found the care, support and attention provided at the Acute Stroke Unit exemplary and thought that it would be best fitting to offer a donation to the ASU, which could be used to provide some benefit to the patients and staff.”
Christine Somerville, Charge Nurse, ASU said: “We are extremely touched by this donation and kind words from the family. On behalf of the ASU I would like to say a huge thank you to family and friends who contributed to the donation which will make a difference to patients in the unit.”
