A man has been jailed for holding three people at knifepoint.

Twenty four-year-old Daniel Kerr threatened to stab his partner and two others at his home in Main Street in Ayr after an argument got out of hand on November 12 last year.

Depute Fiscal Ed Sheeran told Ayr Sheriff court last week: “At around 2am the complainer and accused were in an argument that continued on from midnight, calling her a slut and a slag.”

Mr Sheeran went on to tell the court Kerr later fetched a black four-inch kitchen knife before ordering his terrified partner to keep her distance.

Mr Sheeran added: “The accused came into the living room, stood at the front window and said if anyone came near him he would stab them.”

Kerr wouldn’t let his partner leave the house, while he held her there with a knife.

At around 5am, another man and woman were present at the address who Kerr also threatened to stab, after presenting the knife at them from his waist banded trousers.

He told them “If anyone crosses the line they’ll be stabbed.”

He then tried to fight with the man before police eventually arrived.

Sheriff John Montgomery sentenced Kerr to eight months in prison backdating to November when the incident took place.
