Thousands of runners are set to take part in the first ever Sport Pursuit Conwy Marathon.

The 26.2 mile event will be run on March 31 by Always Aim High Events for the very first time.

The route for the new event is set to take in the Great Orme, the historic Conwy Castle and Colwyn Bay Promenade before runners will double back and finish the race on the Llandudno Promenade.

Tim Lloyd, director at Always Aim High Events, said: "We are very excited to be bringing the SportPursuit Conwy Marathon to Llandudno for the first time this year.

"Marathon running is on the up with more and more people being enticed back to run the classic 26.2 mile distance.

"The new Conwy County event will undoubtedly provide runners with a very beautiful marathon experience as well as potential to run some very fast times.

"We are grateful to be working in partnership with Conwy Council at the race and expect the event to bring a much needed economic boost to the area at a traditionally quiet time of year.

"As a Conwy resident myself, I am very happy to be bringing this brilliant addition to the Welsh running calendar."

Early bird offers, £40 entry, are available until February 15, while the general price after that date will be £45. Final entry prices, for people signing up between March 23 and 29, is £50.

Payment gets runners entry into the marathon, electronic chip timing, a bespoke medal, technical t-shirt for all finishers, food at the finish line and lots more.
