A PENSIONER who was assaulted and mugged on New Year’s Day has spoken out about his ordeal.

Ian Wilson was left traumatised aft er two robber s attacked him in Templehill and stole his money.

The brave 74-year-old has told how he was struck from behind and had his face pinned to a wall while the muggers rifled through his pockets.

Ian revealed: ”It was left quite shaken up. One guy stole £47 from my pocket and the other guy pushed me against the pebble dash wall at the same time. I had a graze on my face and was quite shaken up.”

Ian says the support from the police and community has been “comforting” but he would like to see more CCTV in the town.

He said: “”I would like to express my very sincere thanks to the many people in Troon who sent messages of concern and support following my trauma of being attacked and robbed.

“It is comforting to know that so many people care and I am forever grateful for that. I am now on the mend and feeling a lot better.

“It would be good if we had more CCTV in the town. I would also like to thank the Police and Victim Support for all the support they have given me.”The two assailants are still on the loose and detectives in Ayr say they are still appealing for information to catch them.

Detective Sergeant Jane Hogg at Ayr CID said: “I am appealing to the public to ask anyone who either witnessed the event or has information about it to contact police“ I would also ask motorists including taxi dr ivers to consider whether they were in the area at this time and ask that if they witnessed the event or have dash-cam footage that they also contact us.

“ Enquires are still ongoing and it is important that we do everything we can to catch themen responsible”.
