A CROWDFUNDER launched to support the family of tragic Ayr teen Natalie Merry has already smashed its target.

Set up on behalf of the student nursing community, the page had a £200 target to help lift 'some of the financial burden' for Natalie's family.

The 18-year-old was a student nurse at the University of the West of Scotland but sadly her young life was cut short after a fire broke out at her home in York Street on Sunday evening.

The fundraising page, has raised over £850 and that total is growing fast.

It says: "Natalie tragically lost her life in a house fire on 6th January 2019.

"Natalie was only 18 and a Student Nurse starting out in her training with the world at her feet.

"The Nursing students at UWS in Ayr would like to raise some funds to support Natalie’s family at this awful time. Although no amount of money can bring Natalie back we are hoping that some of the financial burden can be lifted after the family have experienced such a huge loss.

"Please donate what you can and spare a thought for Natalie’s family and friends today."
