TWO men have been arrested for stealing goods from an Ayr home last night after sneaking their way in.

South Ayrshire Police apprehended the men near the property in Bellesleyhill Court after the residents were pro-active in reporting them. They were arrested and charged and appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court today.

The thieves, aged 36 and 37, are reported to have quietly crept in one of the entrances of the home at around 8pm last night, January 7 before stealing property within.

The residents of the home were alert and contacted police straight away. Officers attended nearby after the burglars made off with the stolen possessions and traced them not far from the targeted house.

Chief Inspector Frew, Local Area Commander for South Ayrshire, commented “The householders acted quickly in contacting police that enabled us to attend and trace the men quickly. I would like to thank them for their actions”

“It is important that communities remain vigilant and report anything suspicious to the police.”

“At the start of this New Year residents should take the opportunity to review the security of their property – keep doors and windows locked, keep valuables out of sight or stored away, make use of alarm systems if appropriate and consider having the contents of their home property marked or logged.”
